Cheapest Printer to Print Car Stickers

So I have asked Google Gemini for the following without hinting that I already know that different types of printer inks (the common DYE ink, pigment ink, and sublimation ink) are needed for printing purposes and consequently dedicated printer types for such inks...

QUESTION: "What is the cheapest printer to print car stickers?"

ANSWER:

To print car stickers, the "cheapest" approach depends on whether you are doing a one-off DIY project or starting a small business. Because car stickers face sun, rain, and car washes, the printer is only half the battle—the ink and lamination are what keep them from fading.

Here are the best budget-friendly options for 2026:

  1. The Ultra-Budget Hobbyist Path: Inkjet + Laminate

    • If you already own an inkjet printer or want the lowest entry cost, you can use a standard home printer.

    • Top Pick: Epson EcoTank ET-2800 (approx. $200–$250)

    • Why: It uses refillable ink tanks instead of expensive cartridges, making your cost-per-sticker nearly zero.

    • The Catch: Inkjet ink is "aqueous" (water-based) and will fade in months if left unprotected.

    • The Solution: You must use "Printable Vinyl" sheets and apply a UV-resistant clear laminate (like Oraguard 210) over the top after printing to make them waterproof and sun-proof.

    • Note: Our current laminating machine ACURA FGK-320 can do cold lamination. ACURA Hot & Cold Laminating Machine W/ Fan 6.3 inches , A4 and A3 sizes. Article

  2. The Small Business "Pro-sumer" Path: Pigment Ink

    • Pigment-based inks are much more resistant to water and UV rays than the dye inks found in cheaper printers.

    • Top Pick: Canon PIXMA iX6820 (approx. $150–$180) or Epson EcoTank ET-8550 (approx. $600+)

    • Why: These produce much sharper, more professional colors. The iX6820 is incredibly cheap for a wide-format printer, while the ET-8550 is the gold standard for high-quality sticker businesses due to its 6-color ink system and low running costs.

  3. The Professional Desktop Path: Eco-Solvent

    • If you want stickers that look like they came from a professional shop (without needing lamination), you need an Eco-Solvent printer.

    • Top Pick: Roland VersaSTUDIO BN2-20 (approx. $3,200)

    • Why: This is the cheapest "real" car wrap machine. It prints and cuts in one device and uses industrial ink that bonds to vinyl
      .
    • The Catch: High upfront cost, but it is the most reliable way to make stickers that last 3+ years on a vehicle.

Quick Comparison Table

Printer TypeEstimated PriceBest ForOutdoor Durability
Standard Inkjet$150 - $250Personal DIYLow (Needs Laminate)
Pigment Inkjet$180 - $600Small Etsy ShopModerate (Laminate Recommended)
Eco-Solvent$3,000+Professional/CommercialHigh (3+ Years)

Important Tip for Success

Regardless of the printer, the vinyl matters more than the machine. Always look for "Permanent Printable Vinyl" (like Avery or 3M brands) rather than "Sticker Paper," which will peel off the car almost immediately.

Would you like me to put together a "starter kit" list of the specific vinyl and laminates you'll need for a home inkjet setup?

Iridescent Sheet Material for Cutting on Cricut

We acquired Cricut Maker 3 last 11.11 SALE at a huge discount from Cricut Philippines Official store at Lazada. On the operations side it has many possible uses such as cutting decals, cars sticker, making stencils for paintworks, etc. and most especially it opens up a wide range of possibilities for our DIY decors for festivities (Valentines Day, Parish Fiesta, Christmas, etc).

As newbie I joined Cricut Official Philippines Facebook group to learn from the Cricut Philippines community alongside many Cricut mentors on YouTube.  I'm amazed at the several postings during the 12 Days of Christmas crafting challenge and one project that caught my eye is this Christmas tree made from iridescent material and lighted with fairy lights.  This color scheme offers possibilities for a Winter Wonderland which we were supposed to do this year but will most likely defer it for next Christmas.

Here are some videos to help do such crafting project...

Introducing the Cricut Maker 3

So we've been eyeing to buy a cutter plotter for quite some time now in order to help create the following projects:

  • Decals for glass doors and mirrors as well as Car Stickers
  • Luminous Directional Signage

  • Luminous Emergency Floor Plan (as required by BFP)

  • Making stencils for paintworks
  • Most especially a cutter plotter opens up crafting opportunities for in-house DIY decors for festivities (Valentines Day, Parish Fiesta, Christmas, etc).
Finally during the last 11.11 SALE we acquired a Cricut Maker 3  at a huge discount (around just 15K) from Cricut Philippines Official store at Lazada.  So here's looking forward to doing more DIY stuff for Lafayette III as this versatile cutter plotter opens up a wide range of possibilities.

Cheers!

Welcome to TEL3 Arts and Crafts

Over the years The Eastwood Lafayette III  has been crafting decors for festivities (Christmas, Fiesta, Halloween, Valentines Day, etc) to enhance community experience.  As much as possible we try to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Upcycle (RRRU) materials in the crafting process.

The objective of this blog is to generally document the knowledge gained as we try our hand at different crafting methods so as to make knowledge reusable for future projects.  Hopefully such DIY knowledge can be shared to residents of TEL3 to encourage them to likewise have an RRRU mindset.

Cheers!
